Amani Khan, Secretary

Amani is a 4th year student in the Kinesiology Human Kinetics program at the University of Regina. Living away from her home in Toronto for the school year, she enjoys spending time with friends, hiking and cooking. She started volunteering at SEARCH in 2018 and decided to join the Board of Directors that summer, inspired by the work done at the clinic. Within the few shifts she had come in for, she quickly realized that SEARCH is a place that can bring her closer to the community and give her the chance to learn from hands on experiences in nutrition, health and culture. She is very excited to be a part of the SEARCH family as Secretary, meet new people and have a great year.

Matthew Pechey, Treasurer

Matthew is going into his third year of medicine through the University of Saskatchewan.  His current interests in medicine are focused around family medicine and physiatry.  Before medical school, he completed his psychology degree at the University of Regina, where he was first exposed to SEARCH.  He’s been volunteering at SEARCH for a few years, and in that time has learned lots about the social determinants of health and how those impact one’s approach to providing healthcare.  In his free time, he enjoys reading comics, canoeing, DnD, and hanging out with his shih tzu Oliver.  He recently got involved with the Clinical Liaison Committee and looks forward to joining the board for the first time as Treasurer.

Because of SEARCH I know that everyone has something to offer and you can find knowledge in the most unlikely of places.” She is very excited to continue volunteering with SEARCH this year and cannot wait for all of the new adventures that come along with it!
